Pentax 645D, new medium format camera 40 megapixel

Well, not much new since the Pentax 645D takes tumble a whopping past five years. But Pentax has finally decided to put it on sale at the moment in Japan, but is supposed to give the jump over the next few months.

We find a new model for medium format camera whose main strength is its 40 megapixel CCD sensor and 44 × 33 mm manufactured by Kodak, which bypasses the low pass filter for extracting the maximum resolution and boasts a dynamic range of 11 steps of exposure.

The new model, which like all medium format cameras is clearly focused on the professional market, offers a self cleaning sensor and a sensitivity range from 200 to 1000 ISO, but we reach 100 and 1600 ISO in forced mode. Also has a 3 inch LCD screen and 920,000-pixel resolution, a viewer reaching 98% and slot for SD / SDHC. It also has 11 focus points and evidently with manual controls and RAW.

To complete the body, made of aluminum and whose weight is up to 1.5 Kg Pentax has also introduced a new lens, 55 mm F2.8 with ultrasonic motor.

Difficult as Pentax has this type of camera, especially compared to Hasselblad, probably the dominant brand in this sector, although its price may make it attractive for some daring to be launched by the Agency for the 7000 euros it costs.
